Ain’t no party like an Iowa City Rock Party at Gabe’s. Good times were had on the first Friday of the University of Iowa School year as students, townies, rock fans, and regular Joe’s, but all fans of rock n roll, came out to party. A drunken marching band even came in to play. As a decreasingly sober bystander I can give you the play by play with the help of some evidence of course.Marching Band At Gabes
First band to rock the stage: Housecoat. Rock n roll level 11/10, fuck yeah.
Next up, Whistleblower. Having members from Mad Monks and The Occulus these guys really know how to rock. This was their live venue debut, awesome grungy alt rock (isn’t that ambiguous… you’ll just have to hear them!).
The Savage Hacks took the stage next, COBRAS UNITE. These 3 are tied for first in the running for Maxim’s Hott 100.THE SAVAGE HACKS
An Iowa City favorite, funk + reggae + rock = Gone South
